Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment
Our model is based on the latest clinical research and is carefully tailored to meet each individual's precise biological, psychological, and socio-cultural needs.
Understanding the Struggle
Eating disorders affect people of all ages, backgrounds, men, women, girls, and boys. Symptoms often manifest as a severe concern with controlling food and weight as a mechanism to feel in control of life. This can swing from restricting food intake to overeating excessively, often accompanied by vomiting, laxatives, and exercise extremes.
These physical manifestations are frequently rooted in mixed feelings of confusion, shame, insecurity, and anxiety. One of the primary symptoms is often a denial of the illness, which can prevent someone from accepting treatment. We know that recovery can be a struggle, but starting treatment without delay leads to the best outcomes.
Psychiatric Assessment
The first step in seeking treatment is booking an assessment consultation with one of our specialist consultant psychiatrists, Dr Adrienne Key or Dr Barbara Rooney. They will assess physical complications and emotional wellbeing, as eating disorders can occasionally be life-threatening or cause severe clinical depression.
Psychotherapy
A supportive and thoughtful exploration of emotional experiences, conflicts, and difficulties. Where required, we utilize other evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
Dietetic Support
Carrying out dietetic support in tandem with psychological therapy is crucial. From the consulting room to the meal table, our dietetic specialists guide you toward establishing a regular, balanced food intake and stable eating pattern.
Family & Carer Advice
Eating disorders cause severe distress to families. We provide a wide-ranging programme of support, including practical advice for providing meals and eating with the patient at home, as well as coping with relationship conflicts.
